Cops nab man for fake RT-PCR test results in Zamboanga City

A man suspected of falsifying RT-PCR test results was arrested by authorities during an entrapment operation in Zamboanga City on Friday, July 9.

The suspect, 59-year-old Amilhamja Akbar Ansar, was caught in possession of fake RT-PCR test results belonging to three persons.

Authorities conducted a surveillance on Ansar after 30 travelers were nabbed at the Zamboanga seaport with fake RT-PCR test results earlier this week.

Among them were eight policemen who arrived in Zamboanga City on board vessels from Basilan and Sulu.

This prompted authorities to conduct an operation to determine the parties involved in the manufacture of the falsified documents.

Surveillance activities led to the arrest of Ansar who was reportedly in charge of facilitating the delivery of the documents.

He was arrested after transacting with undercover agents for the sale of fake RT-PCR test results.

The suspect is facing charges for violation of Republic Act (RA) 113322 and falsification of public documents.
