CBCP releases names of new officers of Permanent Council


The names of the newly elected officials of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) Permanent Council are now out.

Below is the list:

President: Bishop Pablo Virgilio David of Kalookan

Vice President: Bishop Mylo Hubert Vergara of Pasig

Treasurer: Archbishop John Du of Palo

Secretary General: Msgr. Bernardo Pantin

Asst. Sec. General/Asst. Treasurer: Fr. Carlo Del Rosario

Regional Representatives

Luzon

North: Archbishop Ricardo Baccay of Tuguegarao

Southwest: Bishop Dennis Villarojo

Central: Bishop Ruperto Santos of Balanga

Southeast: Archbishop Gilbert Garcera of Lipa

South: Bishop Jose Bantolo of Masbate

Visayas

Eastern & Central: Bishop Patrick Daniel Parcon of Talibon

West: Bishop Louie Galbines of Kabankalan

Mindanao

North: Archbishop Jose Cabantan of Cagayan de Oro

The president and the vice-president are elected for two-year terms and can serve for a minimum of two terms. By tradition, they are reelected for their second and last term.

In CBCP history, members of the permanent council enjoy two terms in office, with the vice president normally succeeding the president when his term expires.

The new officers of the CBCP were elected during the bishops Plenary Assembly which started Thursday.

They will serve from Dec. 1, 2021 to Nov. 30, 2023.
