A 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Davao Occidental on Thursday, July 8, state seismologists said.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the epicenter of the temblor was located 145 kilometers (km) southeast of Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental.
The quake, which is tectonic in origin, occurred at 6:09 p.m. and had a depth of focus of 12 km, the agency added.

Intensity II or “slightly felt” shaking was observed in Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental, while Instrumental intensity I was measured in Malungon, Sarangani.
Phivolcs warned that aftershocks are expected following the quake, but noted that damages are unlikely.
