The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) distributed relief packs and family kits to over 200 evacuees from three barangays in Laurel, Batangas amid continuous magmatic unrest of Taal Volcano.
The PCG, in cooperation with the Philippine Army, Philippine National Police (PNP), and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), delivered family kits and relief packs to 84 families, who were in evacuation center in Barangay Sta. Maria, Laurel as Alert Level 3 was raised over the Taal Volcano.
Meanwhile, at least 89 families in San Gabriel and 53 families Molinente, Laurel in evacuation centers received relief kits following the sudden eruption of Taal.
The Coast Guard said the relief operations were conducted in accordance with minimum health standards to prevent spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Another short-lived phreatomagmatic eruption has occurred at Taal Volcano early Wednesday morning, July 7, which generated a grayish plume that rose 300 meters above the main crater, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The Phivolcs asked residents around Taal Lake to “calmly” prepare for possible evacuation should Taal Volcano’s unrest intensifies.
