The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has reported that the Taal Volcano’s unrest has displaced more than 1,600 families.
The DSWD said based on the monitoring report provided by its Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC), as of July 5, the number of families affected by Taal Volcano’s restiveness increased to 1,614.
The DROMIC report showed that a total of 809 families or 3,027 individuals are staying in 16 evacuation centers in four municipalities in Batangas —Agoncillo, Balete, Laurel and Nasugbu.
Meanwhile, a total of 805 families or 2,981 individuals have opted to stay with their relatives and/or friends.
DSWD Secretary Rolando Joselito D. Bautista had assured that they have enough funds to respond to the needs of Taal Volcano evacuees and continue its disaster relief efforts.
He said they have stockpiles and standby funds amounting to more than P1.08 billion that can be used for disaster operations.
