Korean actress Cha Ji-yeon, who played “The Godmother” in Lee Je-hoon’s drama “Taxi Driver,” tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

“Cha Ji-yeon was notified that she tested positive for COVID-19 this morning,” C-JeS Entertainment, her agency, announced on July 4.

She is currently starring in the musical “Red Book” and other actors who have crossed paths with her are being tested for COVID-19. The scheduled performance for the “Red Book” was cancelled due to her situation.

These include actor Lee Hyun-wook, who was cast in the Netflix drama “Black’s Bride” along with Cha Ji-yeon.

Cha Ji-yeon, Ivy and Kim Sejeong play the lead role of Anna in “Red Book.” Ivy and Kim Sejeong have been tested for the virus and are waiting for the results.

In addition, SF9’s Inseong, who plays the lead role of Brown in “Red Book,” also underwent testing. SF9’s new album “Turn Over” is scheduled for release today, July 5.

Cha Ji-yeon is also set to appear in the musical  “Gwanghwamun Sonata,” which will kick off on July 16. The production presentation for the musical slated today, July 5, was cancelled.

Last June 27, Infinite’s Kim Sung-gyu, who is also in the cast of “Gwanghwamun Sonata,” tested positive for COVID-19 after getting vaccinated with  Johnson & Johnson’s one-dose Janssen vaccine on June 10.

The script reading schedule for “Black’s Bride” scheduled on July 6 has been cancelled due to Cha Ji-yeon’s health situation.
