Man who killed, chopped up his wife arrested in Cebu town

CEBU CITY – Police arrested Thursday a man tagged as the prime suspect in the killing of his wife last year.

Harold Carillo Kintanar, who was listed as the No.1 Most Wanted Person (MWP) in Mandaue City, was arrested in his home in Argao, Cebu Thursday, July 1.

A tracker team of the Mandaue City Investigation and Detection Management Unit arrested the suspect thru an arrest warrant issued by Judge Lucia Martinez Cad-Enjambre of the Regional Trial Court Branch 89 in Mandaue.

A case of parricide was filed against Kintanar after a thorough investigation led the police to believe that he was behind the death of his 38-year-old wife Angeline last year.

Investigation showed that Angeline's sister reported her disappearance last December. Police said it was suspicious that the suspect did not immediately report his wife's disappearance.

Police also found out that the victim had told her friends to run after her husband if something bad would happen to her.

Before the victim's relatives sought the help of the police after the woman had gone missing, dismembered body parts of a woman were found in different areas in Mandaue and Cebu City.

The head and foot of a woman were first found in Barangay Looc, Mandaue. Other parts of the body were later recovered in Barangay Talamban here.

The Police Regional Crime Laboratory 7 (Central Visayas) examined the severed head and found that it had the same dental structure that of Angeline.

The Mandaue police went on to file charges against Harold that led to the issuance of an arrest warrant against him on July 1.

The couple used to live in a subdivision in Barangay Tipolo, Mandaue but police failed to locate him there following the issuance of the arrest warrant.

"I am happy with the progress of the case and I commend the Mandaue City Police Office for their accomplishment," said Police Brig. Ronnie Montejo, chief of the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas.
