Homegrown police general donates lot for EOD-K9 camp

DAGUPAN CITY, Pangasinan — The Philippine National Police (PNP) is set to erect a new camp to specifically to cater for the Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Canine Group (EOD-K9) of the Philippine National Police in a donated lot Barangay Capantolan, Sual town.

The one-hectare lot was donated by homegrown Police Brigadier General Harris Fama, Deputy Director of the PNP Directorate for Police Community Relations.

Fama is an alumnus of the Dagupan City National High School Batch 1983. He is also a resident of Dagupan City.

On Wednesday, June 30, Fama, as the donor, is set to sign the deed with PNP Chief Guillerimo Eleazar, at the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPO).

Fama said the camp will be a ‘state-of-the art’ one, with complete amenities such as the training facility office, k9 cages with shelter for around 20 heads, k-9 clinic, 100-bed-capacity barracks for policemen, classrooms, and the Director’s quarter.

On November 27, 2020, Fama, then a Colonel, sent a letter to then-PNP Chief Debold Sinas to express his intention to donate a lot for said purpose. The EOD/K9 Group was eventually told to prepare the requirements to support the donation of the lot to the PNP.

After several ocular inspections, the donated lot was eventually approved for creation of the Camp Master Development Plan for said facility.

The donated lot in Barangay Capantolan proves to be strategic, only about a stone’s throw away from the town proper and the Port of Sual, which has the potential to become an Economic Zone.

Earlier, in his donning of rank on January 25, Fama expressed his desire to donate a parcel of land to the PNP.

In an interview, he said the donation is a “small way to thank the organization”, and is necessary in maintaining peace and order, and public safety in the community.

Fama is a graduate of PNP Academy Class of 1990.

He also used to be assigned with the PNP-PIO.
