PH Coast Guard, Air Force, Navy plant cashew trees on PH Arbor Day


In celebration of the Philippine Arbor Day, the law enforcers have planted at least 65 cashew trees in La Union on Friday, June 25.

Members of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Philippine Air Force (PAF), and Philippine Navy (PN), and civilian volunteers have planted the cashew trees at the Botanical Garden in Barangay Cadaclan, San Fernando City, La Union to advocate for environmental rehabilitation.

In proclamation no. 643, signed in 2004, it declared that every June 25 is the Philippine Arbor Day. It is observed by planting trees and ornamental plants to promote a healthier ecosystem through the rehabilitation of the environment.

Meanwhile, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) encouraged the Filipinos to plant native trees, which it helped in the recovery and expansion of forest habitats.
