Diane Medina: 'Hosting is my passion'

Dianne Medina

It always feels good to win or be recognized in your chosen profession. How much more if it is your passion?

Distinctly, you know you gave so much to your work so it doubles the gratification, and it’s really an honor.

Dianne Medina started hosting since 2007. And last Saturday, June 26, she received a prestigious award recognizing her talent as Most Fave Morning Show Female Host Of The Year from the 4th Asia Pacific Luminare Awards at the Grand Ballroom of Okada, Manila.

But of course there is always the price of success. Aside from that hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether one will win or lose, we must apply the best of ourselves to the task at hand. And some… we even sacrifice our time for our family.

We were able to interview after the awards show, and we want to share with you her valuable insights on things and family.

How do balance your career and your life as a mother ?

Dianne: “I juggle so much work - TV hosting for PTV 4 (yes I work from home). My Dianne TV LIVE is my recently launched channel wherein I feature brands, I run my online shop and events management business, online hostings and my 24/7 job being a mom. Being a first time mom is quite challenging most especially that we are in the midst of Pandemic. I'm a very hands-on and meticulous mom. I also breastfeed my son. For me, I’m able to balance my career and my life as a mom by determining my priorities first, then I set my goals and focus on how would I be able to achieve them. As they say, successful people plan their work and then work their plan. For me, our health should always be our No. 1 priority because If you are not in good shape physically, mentally, and emotionally, both your work life and your personal life will suffer. I also make sure to have a positive mindset, so I can be always productive. Lastly, I also make sure that I center everything to our Lord Jesus Christ - I include HIM in every decision I make in my life."

What do you consider as your greatest achievement career wise?

Dianne: “Hosting is my passion. So being able to do what I love to do and being able to host whether for big/ small programs -I always consider every experience and every moment my greatest achievement.”

What is the greatest lesson she learned from the pandemic?

Dianne: “We are nothing without our Lord Jesus Christ. I learned so much about Faith. I learned that He will never abandon us, and He is ever merciful. COVID-19 for me is a very humbling experience and that we should all go back to HIM and just simply take advantage of this time for our spiritual growth.“

Future plans?

Dianne: “I wanna work really hard so I can still host many government projects and programs, and hopefully I can get more projects for our Events Management/ PR business company.”

Greatest challenges in life?

Dianne: “I must say as a first time mom challenge is how can I keep up to my son's breast milk demands. Breastfeeding entails a lot of sacrifice, dedication and commitment. I remember there were days I would cry because I had no milk. And I also had postpartum depression three months after giving birth. But thanks to my Lord Jesus Christ, my husband, my church friends, I have nun friends as well who prayed for me and my spiritual life coach (yes I had one on one sessions) I was able to pull myself up."

Fears?

Dianne: “Losing someone I love and very dear to me. I always scroll my social media during the height of the pandemic kasi ang daming death posts.”

Memorable film or project?

Dianne: “SONA coverage/government projects and programs. Actually all of my hosting events because in every project that I do I go home with so many lessons and learning.”

Did you expect winning in the 4th Asia Pacific Luminare Awards?

Dianne: “No. Actually I'm really happy that I got an award. It's not the prestige that matters but how it makes us feel. Ang sarap sa pakiramdam na ma-recognize ka after all these years of being a host. I started hosting year 2007 so I'm really grateful and blessed for the many people, places and experiences it has brought me. Now i am more determined to work really hard mas pagbubutihin ko pa so i can share this god given talent to others.”

For Dianne, nothing is impossible with God. Everything starts and ends with Him.
