Supreme Court (SC) Senior Associate Justice Estela M. Perlas Bernabe expressed hopes that the life of the late former President Benigno S. Aquino III “serves as a meaningful inspiration to the leaders – present and future – of this country.”

Bernabe was plucked out of the Court of Appeals (CA) by the late former President for promotion as SC associate justice on Sept. 16, 2011.

“May heartfelt condolences go out to the Aquino family for President Noy’s untimely passing,” she said in her statement released by SC Spokesperson Brian Keith F. Hosaka.

Bernabe recalled that her only personal interaction with President Noynoy “was during an invitation to the Palace for an interview prior to my appointment as Supreme Court Justice.”

“That singular encounter speaks volumes of his character as a man of dignified humility, intellectual competence, patriotic zeal, and most of all, unyielding integrity,” she said.

“True enough, these traits were not mere impressions but actual qualities epitomized by PNoy as he led this country during his term as President,” she added.

“It is my fervent hope that his life serves as a meaningful inspiration to the leaders – present and future – of this country,” she stressed.
