Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines Archbishop Charles Brown and Manila Archbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula visited the wake of former President Benigno S. Aquino III at the Ateneo de Manila University in Quezon City, Friday, June 25.
The two offered prayers for Aquino, who died Thursday, June 24.
"Give him eternal rest o Lord and may your light shine on him forever," said Advincula.
"We commend our brother Benigno to you Lord now that he has passed from this life. May he live on in your presence, in your mercy and love. Forgive whatever sins he may have committed through human weakness. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen," he added.
Advincula on Thursday also offered prayers for Aquino during a Mass for his installation as the 33rd Archbishop of Manila.
On Friday, the Manila prelate presided a Mass with the laity from the different parishes, shrines, and chaplaincies in the Archdiocese of Manila.
Representatives from different movements, organizations, and youth groups were also present.
"This is to ensure that Cardinal Advincula will be able to celebrate with more people and that all groups are represented in the ceremonies," the Manila Cathedral said in a Facebook post.
On Saturday, June 26, at 5 p.m. the Cardinal will preside at a Solemn Vespers (Evening Prayer) with the consecrated men and women in the Archdiocese of Manila. This will also be held at the Manila Cathedral.
On Sunday, June 27, Cardinal Advincula will visit Maricaban in Pasay City and preside at a Mass at the Mary, Comforter of the Afflicted Parish, at 9 a.m.
