Fuselage of plane found on Batanes beach

IVANA, Batanes – The apparent fuselage of a plane was recovered in Barangay Radiwan here Wednesday, June 23.

Local police personnel and the Aviation Security Group based in Basco, this province, are now investigating how it turned out almost 100 meters away from Port of Radiwan.

A concerned citizen found the fuselage on the beach and reported the discovery to Police Corporal Jerick Voltaire C. Acaya, assigned to the Ivana Police Station who, at that time, was at the Port of Radiwan to provide security to an arriving boat from Sabtang Island, Batanes.

“Agad naman nilang pinuntahan ang lugar upang kumpirmahin ang nasabing report at doon bumungad sa kanila ang isang malaking parte ng eroplano na tinatanyang nasa anim na metro ang haba at dalawang metro naman ang taas (6mx2m) na napadpad sa may dalampasigan na may marka o sulat na hinihinalang Chinese/Taiwanese na lengguwahe sa gilid nito (Authorities proceeded to the area and found the fuselage of a plane with a length of six meters by two meters on the beach with Chinese or Taiwanese language markings on the side),” a report from Lt. Col. Andree Abella, Police Regional Office 2 spokesperson, said.

The report also said that as of Friday, June 25, police and the Aviation Security Group are still coordinating with other government agencies to find out more about the fuselage.
