Muntinlupa mayor mourns passing of former President PNoy


Muntinlupa Mayor Jaime Fresnedi mourns the passing of former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III on Thursday, June 24, at the age of 61.

“Mayor Jaime Fresnedi, together with the whole City of Muntinlupa and the city government, is extending his heartfelt condolences to the family former President Benigno ‘Noynoy’ Aquino III who passed away today, June 24, 2021,” according to a statement in Filipino issued by the mayor.

He added, “As an honest public servant, former President Noynoy fought for ‘Daang Matuwid’ and the improvement of services by the government and support for poor Filipinos. The former President was a partner in different programs implemented by the city for the development of Muntinlupeño.”

“Thank you former President Noynoy for your sacrifice and love for the country. We offer our prayers for your peaceful journey toward the Kingdom of God,” Mayor Fresnedi said.

Aquino served as the 15th president of the Philippines from 2010 to 2016. Fresnedi ran and won in the election under the Liberal Party, Aquino’s political party.

On Twitter, the topic “RIP Pnoy” trended at No. 1 in the Philippines after the news of Aquino’s death spread on the social media platform.
