Former Vice President Jejomar “Jojo” Binay has sent his condolences to the bereaved family of former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.
“Noynoy and I may have had political differences during the last few years of his term, but that will not diminish the many years of friendship between our families,” he said in a statement released on Thursday (June 24).
“My deepest condolences to the family. Godspeed, Pareng Noy.”
Aquino, the 15th president of the country, championed the “Daang Matuwid” campaign, and scored a landmark ruling against China’s aggressive claims in the West Philippine Sea.
According to a family member, the former president passed away after being rushed to the Capitol Medical Center on Thursday. He was 61.
