Archdiocese of Manila all set for Cardinal Advincula’s installation on June 24


The Archdiocese of Manila is all set for the installation of its new archbishop Jose F. Cardinal Advincula, on Thursday, June 24, Solemnity of the Birth of St. John the Baptist, at the Manila Cathedral in Intramuros, Manila at 8 a.m.

Bishop Broderick S. Pabillo, Apostolic Administrator of the Manila archdiocese said, the Archdiocese of Manila has prepared a series of activities during and after the installation of the 33rd Archbishop of Manila including a nine-day spiritual preparation such as catechetical videos on the role of the archbishop and cardinal that started last June 15.

The Manila archdiocese said, Cardinal Advincula will be formally welcomed to Intramuros on June 24 at 8 a.m. by Manila Mayor Francisco Domagoso and the Intramuros Administrator at the Postigo Gate, a historic gate that was used exclusively by the Archbishops of Manila and Governors-General of the Philippines during the Spanish times.

Advincula will then head towards a Civic Reception to be held at the Ayuntamiento, the old city hall of Manila that now houses the Bureau of the Treasury where he will be accompanied by representatives from different church groups such as the Knights of Columbus, Order of Malta, and the Equestrian Order of Jerusalem. He will also be welcomed by the five city mayors of the cities within the Archdiocese of Manila - Manila, Makati, Mandaluyong, Pasay, and San Juan.

The solemn Installation and celebration of the Holy Eucharist will be at 9 a.m. at the Manila Cathedral. It will be witnessed by bishops, members of the clergy of the Archdiocese of Manila and the Archdiocese of Capiz, government officials, representatives from religious groups, laity, and family and guests of Cardinal Advincula.

On June 25, the newly installed Archbishop of Manila will celebrate mass at the Manila Cathedral at 9 a.m. with the laity of the archdiocese. On June 26, he will lead the Solemn Vespers or Evening Prayer with the consecrated men and women in the Archdiocese of Manila at 5 p.m.

On June 27, His Eminence will visit Maricaban in Pasay City and will preside over a mass at the Mary, Comforter of the Afflicted Parish at 9 a.m.
