I want to teach Emma not to fear failure. Many times we are not able to truly realize our full potential or we miss opportunities that would allow us to fulfill our dreams because we fear failure. Instead I want to teach her to face and embrace the uncertainties, challenges, losses and mistakes without any regrets. All of these are part of growth and if one has not gone through any challenges, disappointments and failures, then one has not lived at all. Michael Jordan once said “I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. Twenty-six times I’ve been trusted to take the game-winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.” We can never be sure whether the shots we take go in or not, but one thing is certain—100% of the shots we were too scared to take are missed shots that could have been the biggest victory of our lives if we had just taken it. I want to teach Emma to let go of that fear and take that shot.

To see my kids grow up grounded, hardworking, compassionate and with integrity is what means the most to me. These core values are key to both business success and to being responsible human beings, as well as productive citizens of society.

Love God, love family, and others. Offer your life as a service of good and as a blessing to others and give God the Glory. Protect your name and reputation. Be willing to lose material things but never lose your credibility. In all things give thanks. Be productive and continue to pursue excellence at all times. Life in this planet is temporary. Life in Christ is eternal so that is where we will put our investments in.

I want my children to be able to make good decisions for themselves such that whoever they become or whatever they accomplish is the result of their own decisions. As parents we are only here to guide them and provide them all the best possible opportunities while we still can.

One of the most important lessons is teaching our children boundaries in life - the yes and the no - which then contribute in defining their personal values.
