Eddie Garcia to be honored at Italian film festival


The Udine Far East Film Festival in Italy will pay homage to the late multi-awarded film actor, director Eddie Garcia on its 23rd year.

It will run a special tribute section dubbed "Eddie Garcia: Life as a Film Epic (Ommagio a Eddie Garcia : La vita come un’epopea cinematografica)," from June 24 to July 2.

As part of the tribute, iIt will showcase five of Garcia’s films, including "Pagdating sa Dulo" (1971), "Bwakaw" (2012), "Rainbow’s Sunset" (2018), "Shadows" (2000), and "Sinasamba Kita" (1982).

Meanwhile, 63 films from 11 countries including Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea, China, Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan, Indonesia, Macau, Myanmar and the Philippines, will be shown on-site as part of the festivals' Cinema Visionario and Cinema Centrale.

Antoinette Jadaone's "Fan Girl" and Joel Lamangan's "Anak ng Macho Dancer," will be among 45 films in the Competition Section.

Grace Simbulan’s "A is for Agustin" will be screened under the Documentaries Section (Out of Competition).
