DOH logs 6,637 new COVID-19 cases

The Philippines has 6,637 new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases, the Department of Health (DOH) said on Thursday, June 17.

The country’s cumulative case count has already reached 1,339,457. Of this figure, 58,407 or 4.4 percent are active infections.

Latest case bulletin showed that 91.8 percent are experiencing mild symptoms, 3.8 percent are asymptomatic, 1.3 percent are in critical condition, 1.8 percent are severe, and 1.30 percent are experiencing moderate symptoms.

The DOH said that “235 cases previously tagged as recoveries have been validated to be active cases.”

Meanwhile, the country’s COVID death toll climbed to 23,276 after 155 more patients succumbed to the viral disease, these include the 107 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries.

There were 4,585 new patients that have recovered. This brought the recovery count to 1,257,774 which is equivalent to 93.9 percent of the overall case count.
