Husband-and-wife rebel returnees, CAFGU man found murdered in Leyte


TACLOBAN CITY – A rebel returnee couple and a member of the Civilian Armed Force Geographical Unit Active Auxiliary (CAA) were found dead at a public cemetery in Brgy. Padoga, Calubian, Leyte about 3:00 in the morning Tuesday, June 15.

Authorities identified the husband and wife victims as Paquito Mahinay and his Melba who are both former rebels and residents of Brgy. Anislagan of said town

The third victim was Albert Aldiano who was a CAA Member of the 93rd Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army based in Kananga, Leyte.

The local police said that they received a phone call from Vice Mayor Gilbert Ponce of Calubian to inform them that three unidentified individuals were found dead at the said place.

Upon arrival, they found the three lifeless victims, with two of them tied on a single motorcycle. Each of the victims sustained gunshot wounds in different parts of their bodies while Melba had a huge hole in her left shoulder and a hack wound on the right. her neck was also slashed.

The police said Aldiano was driving a single motorcycle with Paquito the day before they were found dead. They went to Brgy. Anislagan to fetch Melba to go with them at the 93rd IB Headquarters where Paquito was under custody for his safety.

Authorities said the three victims were last seen leaving the barangay past 5:00 in the afternoon on June 14.

The local police are still conducting a thorough investigation on the motive and possible identity of the suspects.
