The national government will soon replenish vaccine stocks of local government units that are currently running low on supply, National Task Force Deputy Chief Implementer Vince Dizon assured on Wednesday, June 16.
This after some cities in the National Capital Region temporarily suspended vaccinations due to low vaccine supply.
"We will immediately supply cities, not only in the NCR, but even those outside the region, running low on vaccine supply because they vaccinate quickly," Dizon said in an interview with CNN Philippines.
Dizon added that the 1.5 million doses of Sinovac's Coronavac vaccine that will be shipped to the Philippines on June 17 will be distributed to LGUs facing vaccine shortage.
"We will distribute that to various LGUs throughout the country so that their vaccinations won't stop," he assured.
"The NTF conducts daily meetings with NCR+8 mayors and the Department of Health so we can instantly address their needs and make the necessary adjustments," Dizon noted.
The NCR+8 are areas composed of NCR, Bulacan, Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Pampanga, Rizal, Metro Cebu, and Metro Davao.
"Those cities are the most prone to COVID-19 risk and are also our economic centers so they are the first priority ," he added.
