19 Metro Manila barangays declared drug-free- NCRPO


A total of 19 barangays in Metro Manilave have been declared as drug-free based on the parameters set by the government in its campaign on community-clearing of illegal drugs influence, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said on Wednesday, June 16.

NCRPO director Maj. Gen. Vicente Danao said the 19 barangays in Malabon, Pasay, Parañaque and Manila cities were the subject of deliberation of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Regional Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug Clearing (ROCBDC) composed of provincial representatives of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), the Philippine National Police (PNP), Department of Health (DOH) and local government units.

"A certification was already issued for these barangays that they are already free from illegal drug infestation," said Danao.

They are Brgy. 346, 616, 482, 510, 518, 190, 191, 187, 208, 301, and 305, in Manila; Barangay Hulong Duhat in Malabon; Barangay La Huerta in Parañaque City; Barangays 115, 68, 76, 83 and 141 in Pasay City.

Based on the protocol for drug-clearing of a barangay, the Committee on Barangay Drug Clearing must convene and validate the absence of drug supply, drug shipment activity, clandestine laboratory, marijuana farming site, drug den, drug pusher and user and other similar drug related activities pursuant to the parameters set forth by the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) as provided in Section 8, DDB Board Regulation No. 3 Series of 2017, otherwise known as “Strengthening the Implementation of the Barangay Drug-Clearing Program”.

Danao, for his part, congratulated his men for the effective implementation of anti-illegal drug campaign and operations in their respective areas of responsibility. He also expressed his gratitude for the support of the LGU and other units concerned which paved way to the success of this endeavor.
