Hostage taker slain, child rescued in hostage drama in Bulacan


A hostage taker reportedly high on drugs was killed after taking hostage a child in San Rafael, Bulacan on Monday, June 14.

Col. Lawrence B. Cajipe, Bulacan police director, said a report by Lt. Col. Ferdinand Germino, San Rafael town police chief, showed that the hostage-taking took place in Barangay Banca-banca in San Rafael at about 6:30 p.m. on Monday.

Germino said the unidentified hostage-taker grabbed the child, aimed his short firearm, and started shouting for anyone not get close to them.

The hostage drama lasted for more than three hours. After negotiations for the child’s release went unheeded by the suspect, the hostage-taker started to became violent, lifted the child and started hitting.

He fired his gun at the police officers and a firefight ensued. The child was rescued safe unhurt.

The slain hostage-taker is still unidentified as of this writing.
