More than 14 tons of vegetables and other farm products purchased from Luzon farmers were distributed by 14 Supreme Court justices, led by Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo, to various community pantries in the National Capital Region (NCR) and other recipients.

The distribution of the farm products, which will thereafter be given to needy persons through the community pantries, was done on Wednesday, June 10, on the eve of the 120th anniversary of the SC on Friday, June 11.

The SC’s public information office (PIO) said the project was called “Pagkalinga sa Kapwa: Higit Labing Apat Mula sa Labing Apat” (Caring for Others: More than 14 from the 14).

The PIO said that aside from Chief Justice Gesmundo, also present and helped in the distribution of the farm products were Senior Associate Justice Estela M. Perlas Bernabe and Associate Justices Marvic M.V.F. Leonen, Alfredo Benjamin S. Caguioa, Ramon Paul L. Hernando, Mario V. Lopez, Edgardo L. Delos Santos, and Jhosep Y. Lopez.

It said the other justices were expected to also attend and be present in the distribution that started at about 8 a.m.

The PIO said the vegetables were purchased by the justices “using their personal resources.”

“Included in the distribution list were the indigent ward of the Philippine General Hospital, the Manila Police District, and existing community pantries throughout the National Capital Region,” it said.
