CEBU CITY – A 16-year-old girl sustained bites and scratches all over her body after she was attacked by a Rottweiler in Oslob, Cebu last Tuesday, June 8.

Videos of the harrowing incident showing the hapless Jeny Rose Gomilao being attacked by the large breed dog is now circulating on social media.

John Michael, the girl’s brother, said the incident happened while his sister was gathering shellfish in Barangay Looc.

The dog, which is owned by the victim’s neighbor, reportedly got loose and ran to the shore.

In the video, the girl was seen wading through knee-deep seawater when she was chased by the dog. Some residents and guests of a nearby resort watched helplessly and egged on the girl to run.

As the girl tried to escape from the clutches of the dog, a man arrived seemingly to help the girl. The dog ran but returned a few seconds later an attacked the girl again.

The girl was taken to the hospital with scratches and dog bites in the neck, arms, knees, back, and hands.

The incident happened about two months after the girl was also bitten by a dog owned by another neighbor.

“She was not given anti-rabies shots because she received one after she was bitten by a dog two months ago,” John Michael said.

For the girl’s hospital treatment, the owner of the dog gave P3,000 but the amount would not suffice, John Michael said.

“We want justice. We want an assurance that they will shoulder the expenses for the treatment of my sister,” John Michael added.
