44,800 additional doses of Sinovac arrive in Davao


DAVAO CITY – Davao region received 44,800 additional doses of Sinovac CoronaVac vaccines on Tuesday, June 8.

The vaccines arrived at the Davao International Airport via a Philippine Airlines commercial flight and were transported to the cold storage facility of the Department of Health XI (DOH XI).

DOH-XI Regional Director Annabelle P. Yumang said that the vaccines will be distributed to Davao City and Davao Oriental.

“Kani siyang 44,800 na bakuna karon, first dose and second dose na ni siya para sa atong mga A1, A2, ug A3 nga group (These 44,800 already covers the first dose and second dose of those included in the A1, A2, and A3 groups),” Yumang added.

As of Tuesday, Davao Region has already received a total of 432,050 doses of COVID-19 vaccines.

In a press briefing last Monday, June 7, Yumang said from January 1 to 6, the Davao region has already recorded a total of 2,337 COVID-19 cases. The said number is almost half of the 4,750 total number of COVID-19 cases recorded for May.

Based on DOH's record, the Davao region has recorded 382 new cases of COVID-19, on Tuesday bringing the total number of active cases to 5,031. The region has surpassed the 30,000-mark on Tuesday with a total of 31,123 cases with 24,912 recoveries, and 1,180 deaths recorded

Of the new cases, 244 were from Davao City, 52 from Davao del Norte, 50 from Davao de Oro, 27 from Davao del Sur, eight from Davao Oriental, and one from Davao Occidental.

There were also 14 deaths reported on Tuesday, of which four were from Davao City, four from Davao de Oro, three from Davao del Norte, and three from Davao Oriental.

Meanwhile, the number of recoveries tallied was 130, which includes 46 recoveries from Davao del Norte, 42 from Davao City, 15 from Davao Oriental, 13 from Davao de Oro, eight from Davao del Sur, and six from Davao Occidental.
