DAGUPAN CITY, Pangasinan — Two individuals died after a lightning struck them in Barangay Angio, San Fabian town, this evening.
San Fabian police identified the victims as Fernando Guntang, 20, resident of said area, and Jeric Soriano, 25, of Barangay Pangapisan North in Lingayen town.
According to witnesses Lloyd Alpa and Ludovico Paragas, they were all together with the victims who just finished fixing a nipa hut when it rained, prompting them to immediately take cover.
Soriano, who was just finished playing a mobile game, put his cellphone in his pocket, when lightning struck him and Guntang, who was sitting just right beside him.
The duo were immediately rushed to Region 1 Medical Center in Dagupan City but were declared dead on arrival.
Alpa and Paragas were unscathed.
Authorities continue to warn individuals not to use any gadget or electronic device during a thunderstorm.
