Yemeni nabbed for cultivating marijuana in Baguio

HASAN
BAGUIO CITY – A Yemeni student was arrested last June 5 for cultivating marijuana plants inside his house in Purok 5, Bakakeng Central, this city.

Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Regional Director Gil Castro said Hussain Muaad Hasan, 21, also known as “Muath Yaf,” did not resist arrest when lawmen nabbed him.

Castro said they placed Hasan under surveillance after receiving reports of his and his peers’ rowdy behavior in the neighborhood every time they were high on drugs.

PDEA and police raided the suspect’s house on the strength of a search warrant issued by Judge Maria Ligaya Itliong-Rivera of the Regional Trial Court Branch 5 in this city.

Seized during the operation were three pots with full grown marijuana plants and six grams of marijuana stalks.

Castro said the PDEA will conduct a background check on Hasan and his friends.

The suspect is facing charges for violation of Republic Act (RA) No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
