Authorities arrested a carpenter for possessing more than 50 sacks of ammonium nitrate and explosive components during a raid in Barangay Pulo Mabao, Olutanga Island, Zamboanga Sibugay on Sunday, May 30.
The explosive components were reportedly confiscated inside the residence of 45-year-old Buddy Asamuddin y Pawaki during the service of a search warrant.
The operating team seized 53 sacks of ammonium nitrate, blasting caps, and detonating cords.
Asamuddin is facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9516 or the Unlawful Manufacture, Sale, Acquisition, Disposition, Importation or Possession of an explosive or incendiary device.
The explosives were placed under the custody of the Olutanga Municipal Police Station.
