DOH reports 7,058 new COVID-19 cases

The country logged on Sunday 7,058 new cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) nationwide.

The Philippines' cumulative tally rose to 1,223,627 wherein 4.4 percent or 53,757 cases were still active.

It was noted that "13 duplicates were removed from the total case count." "Of these, eight are recoveries and one is a death."

Of the active cases, 93.2 percent have mild symptoms, 2.3 percent have no symptoms, 1.4 percent were in critical condition, 1.8 percent were severe, and 1.28 percent were moderate cases.

The death toll also climbed to 20,860 with 139 more patients who succumbed to the viral illness, which include the "80 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries (but) were reclassified as deaths after final validation."

The country's case fatality rate is at 1.70 percent.

Meanwhile, 6,852 more patients were able to recover, raising the survivors tally to 1,149,010. The total recovery count is equivalent to 93.9 percent of the country's overall caseload.
