Face mask violator yields P1-M shabu in Taguig


A man initially accosted for not wearing a face mask was arrested by police after he yielded P1 million worth of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) in Taguig City on Friday.

Suspect Narex Diocolano, 34, of Maharlika Village in Taguig, was nabbed at about 2 p.m. on Guevarra Street in New Lower Bicutan.



According to a report submitted to Taguig Police chief Police Col. Celso Rodriguez, police officers saw Diocolano not wearing a face mask, a violation of Taguig Ordinance No. 12.



When the suspect saw them, he suddenly ran away, prompting the cops to chase him.



As he was running, a plastic sachet containing suspected shabu fell from him.



The police pursued him until they arrested him.



The police recovered from the suspect five transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, weighing about 155 grams with a value of P1.05 million, a weighing scale, a security guard ID, and two pieces of P500 bills.



Diocolano was brought to Taguig District Hospital for physical and medical examination before he was transferred to the Southern Police District Crime Laboratory Office in Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicutan for drug test.



He is facing charges for violation of Sec. 11 of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) or possession of dangerous drugs, and City Ordinance No. 12.
