Breastfeeding mother leads Pasay City residents in getting COVID jab

A breastfeeding mother led the queue at a Pasay City vaccination center to get the COVID-19 jab as her way of conquering her fear of contracting the disease.

Andie Manuel (Pasay City PIO / MANILA BULLETIN)

Andie Manuel of Barangay 102, in a short video e posted by the Public Information Office (PIO), said her fear of contracting COVID-19 vanished as she received her first dose of the vaccine.

Manuel said she immediately went to the vaccination site after receiving a text message on her schedule for vaccination.

She said she had been harboring fear that her baby may also get the virus.

“Wala po akong naramdamang sakit matapos na ako ay mabakunahan. Masaya po ako kasi pati ang baby ko ay protektado na dahil sa siya ay breastfed, “ (I felt no pain when I received the vaccine. I am happy because my baby is also protected now), Manuel said.

A total of 63, 884 city residents have received their first and second doses of the COVID-19 vaccines.

The Pasay City PIO said the testimony of Manuel could help boost the city government's vaccination program.

The PIO said a total of 48,331 persons belonging to the A1 (front line workers), A2 (senior citizens), and A3 (adult with co-morbidities) categories have already received their first dose of the vaccine while a total of 63,884 have received their second dose.
