Art show to benefit Manila youth scholars, says Rep. Yul Servo


The Art District Gallery presents "MAYNILA: Noon at Ngayon." an exhibition featuring premiere Filipino Contemporary Sculptors whose works will narrate Manila’s legacy of being one of the centers of arts and culture in the country according to Congressman-actor Yul Servo of Manila.

Gathering eight of the most respected Filipino visual artists in the country, the exhibition, through space, form, and physically illustrates images that hint at the city’s opulent history that remain vibrant amidst modernity. The show was launched last May 15.

It will showcase works of the following artists: Ral Arrogante, Wilson William Montes Baldemor, Richard Buxani, Frederic Caedo, Joe Datuin, Chris Magbuhos, Sam Penaso, and Jun Rodrigo Vicaldo. 

"The part of the exhibition’s proceeds will benefit youth scholars of TAD’s learning programs where youth aged 16 and up, and based in barangays in Manila, are taught about art free of charge," Servo said.

The Art District Gallery History The Art District (TAD) is a new contemporary gallery inside Calvo Building, an old 1938 structure along Escolta Street Binondo, Manila. Escolta Street, which is known for its row of elegant art-deco buildings designed by notable architects, has a long history of being the business and cultural hub of the Philippines. 

TAD’s mission is to help in the existing effort to restore Escolta’s rightful place as the distinguished cultural foundation of Manila.

By providing a venue for contemporary art that is accessible and inspirational, TAD helps recapture Manila’s legacy for being the center of Arts and Culture in the Philippines. 

MAYNILA: Noon at Ngayon will run until June 10. The Art Gallery is located at Room 205 Calvo Building Escolta St. Binondo, Manila.
