3 neighbors hacked, stabbed in Negros Occidental

BACOLOD CITY – Two neighbors were killed while another was wounded after they were stabbed and hacked in Sitio Buyog, Barangay Nabulao, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental Tuesday.

Police identified the fatalities as Percy Lugay, 36; and Robert Gabonada, 34. Wounded was Gabonada’s father Rudy, 64.

Police Major James Latayon, Sipalay City police chief, said the suspect identified as 55-year-old Douglas Gaboya allegedly attacked the victims for an unknown reason.

Investigation showed that Lugay was watching television, when Gaboya, armed with a bolo, suddenly entered the house and hacked the victim on his neck and shoulder.

Gaboya then went to the house of Rudy and stabbed Robert, hitting his chest. The suspect also stabbed and hacked Rudy, hitting the left side of his body, face, and back.

Lugay and Robert were declared dead on arrival in a hospital while Rudy is now stable and still confined in a hospital.

Latayon said that Gaboya was not drunk when it happened, and he had no misunderstandings or conflict with the victims.

He said the suspect, who was arrested the following day in Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental through the help of his family, refused to comment on the said incident.

Frustrated murder and two counts of murder will be charged against the suspect.
