Pasay LGU uses senior citizens to encourage residents to get COVID jab


The Pasay City government have asked the help of senior citizens in the city to encourage residents to get vaccinated against COVID-19 through a short testimonial video for the country to achieve herd immunity.

Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano, in a presentation at the Bakuna Benefits segment of George Royeca, Angkas chief transport advocate, said the city government has vaccinated a total of 12,353 senior citizens from its target of 29,642.

Rubiano said the testimonial video of senior citizens will help encourage residents to support the “Vacc to the Future” vaccination program of the city government.

She said a total of 48, 411 persons received their first dose, and 19, 015 for the second dose, for a total of 67,426.

The mayor said the city is targeting to inoculate a total of 316,225 persons or about 70 percent of the 451,750 total populations for the city to achieve herd immunity.

Rubiano said the city has 12 vaccination sites, eight public schools, two covered courts, the Cuneta Astrodome, and the city’s Giga vaccination site located at the Galleon SM Mall of Asia, that can accommodate 2,000 persons per day.
