Inclement weather forced organizers to call off the first round of the 2021 Chukyo TV Bridgestone Ladies Open on Friday, May 21, where Yuka Saso is among the participants.
It marked the second day that rain suspended the start of the Japan LPGA Tour event in Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture, which reduced the three-day meet to just 36-hole competition, or just two days of action.
Saso is eyeing to win a third title in the tour, and first this year after she captured two in August 2020, the NEC Karuizawa 72 championship and the Notori Ladies Golf Tournament title.
Backed by the ICTSI, Saso hopes to use the tournament as part of her preparation for the US Women’s Open at The Lake Course in San Francisco, California. In her US Women’s Open debut last year, she finished tied for 13th overall.
She is also nearing to clinch a berth in the Tokyo Olympics this year.
The Y70 million TV Bridgestone Ladies Open event gives Y12.6 million to the winner.
