Cops rescue Chinese POGO job applicant in Pasay raid

Anti-kidnapping operatives of the Philippine National Police (PNP) rescued a 27-year old Chinese in a raid in a hotel in Pasay City where three of his captors were arrested.

Col. Rudolph Dimas, director of the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG), said victim Sun Xiao Lin was kept inside a room in a hotel in Pasay City for three days before he was rescued on Tuesday.

Nabbed were Alvin Cardeño Israel, 36; Li Fei, 28; and, Ye Hong, 27. They were already charged and currently detained at the PNP-AKG office at Camp Crame.

Dimas said victim was kidnapped on May 16 while on his way to the Lord’s Grace Medical and Industrial Clinic in Pasay City where he was scheduled to undergo RT-PCR test as a requirement for his job application in a POGO (Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator) company.

"The kidnappers demanded an undetermined amount of ransom from his cousin. The victim’s family paid Php1.5 million on the same date through online transaction, but the victim was not released after the payment," said Dimas.

It was then that the victims' relatives, through their contacts in the country, sought police assistance.
