WMSU to establish College of Medicine come August


The Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) will establish its College of Medicine on August this year, the start of the 2021-2022 school year.

This after the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) gave its go signal last Wednesday for the university to offer the new course.

Dr. Cecilia Cuaresma, a former official from the Ospital ng Maynila located in Metro Manila, will lead the College of Medicine.

The university will start screening applicants by June this year. A total of 50 students are expected to compose the pioneer batch.

The WMSU College of Medicine will focus on holistic and integrated learning in medicine. The college aims to use the Problem Based Integrated system approach, research based and values driven education, according to a recent statement released by the university.

The WMSU School of Medicine is the second university in Zamboanga City to establish a College of Medicine.
