Angono LGU re-imposes one-passenger tricycle ride policy

The local government of Angono, Rizal is implementing again the one-passenger per tricycle policy after President Duterte placed the National Capital Region and the provinces of Laguna, Cavite, Bulacan and Rizal (NCR Plus) under General Community Quarantine (GCQ) with heightened restrictions.

Elmer Deloritos, head of the Angono’s Public Safety and Order Office, told Manila Bulletin that the policy is an old measure that was imposed when the town was still under GCQ in May 2020.

Two exemptions to the policy, however, may be allowed -- one, if the tricycle unit has plastic sheets that separate the passenger and the driver; two, if the passenger is a senior citizen who needs a companion, according to Delorino.

Delorino said a short distance tricycle ride per passenger in Angono costs P10 to P20 based on the existing local ordinance on tricycle fare.

A tricycle driver will be fined P300 once he violates the one-passenger per ride policy. (Nel Andrade)
