Police Col. Melecio Buslig, Muntinlupa City Police Station chief, said the incident happened at about 4:30 p.m.

The three unidentified male suspects were seen on the mall’s closed-circuit television (CCTV) stealing a spare tire of a vehicle parked on the second floor parking area and putting it in their getaway vehicle with plate number NAY-3288.

The mall’s security guards decided to use their service motorcycle as a barricade at the parking exit to prevent the suspects from escaping.

When the suspects’ vehicle approached the barricade, it was flagged down for verification by the guards but the suspects ignored them and ran over the motorcycle. This prompted the security guards to shoot at the vehicle’s tire but the suspects managed to escape.

Mobile Patrol 118 of the Alabang Police Sub-Station chased the suspects’ getaway vehicle and it was found abandoned in front of the Anuva Residences condominium building on East Service Road in Brgy. Cupang. The vehicle is now under the custody of the police.

A video posted by Randy Cabarrubias on Facebook showed the mall guards trying to stop the vehicle and shooting at the car tires to immobilize it. However, the vehicle was able to speed away.
