Maine Mendoza has been tapped as one of the hosts of TV5’s upcoming reality talent show “POPinoy.”

Mendoza will be joining her “Eat Bulaga!” co-host and The King of Transformation Paolo Ballesteros.

The show is the network’s collaboration with local mobile services brand in promoting Filipino pride.

It aims to search for the country’s biggest Pop boyband, where the program will follow the journey of aspiring Filipino boy band members as they vie for a spot to be the next Pinoy Pop Idols.

Online and nationwide auditions are open to all 18-24 years old, singing and dancing groups composed of three to five male members with the skills, talents, and charms to take the world stage.

Among prizes are P1.25 million cash, a talent and imaging contract with APT Entertainment, and a TNT endorsement contract.

It was a few months ago when news about Sarah Geronimo transferring to TV5 surfaced after her photo was used on “POPinoy’s” promo.

But Viva Entertainment’s Vic del Rosario Jr. has explained that Sarah will remain an exclusive talent of ABS-CBN.

De Rosario said Sarah only complied with her commitment as an endorser of the local mobile services brand.
