Father, son wanted for murder in Antique nabbed in Rizal


ILOILO CITY — A father and son wanted for murder in Laua-an, Antique were arrested by police in Rizal.

The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) identified the suspects as Nestor Aretaño and his son Renier Aretaño.

The 64-year-old father and 34-year-old son were arrested in Barangay Mahabang Parang, Angono Tuesday.

The duo was arrested by several PNP units -- Laua-an Municipal Police Station, Antique Maritime Police Station, Intelligence Unit of the Antique Police Provincial Office, 2nd Antique Provincial Mobile Force Company, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG-Antique), Provincial Intelligence Team Antique under the PRO-6 Regional Intelligence Unit, and the Anti-Kidnapping Group in Camp Crame, Quezon City.

Police Lt. Col. Joem Malong, PRO-6 spokesperson, said the father and son have warrants for their arrest issued by Judge Mario G Andres Jr. of the Regional Trial Court-6th Judicial Region in San Jose de Buenavista.

The Aretaños allegedly shot and hacked a 50-year-old man in Barangay Leon, Laua-an in April 2015. A stray bullet also hit a barbeque vendor, who was near the area when the crime took place.
