Central Luzon police head condoles with families of truck mishap victims


Brig. General Valeriano T. De Leon, Police Regional Office 3 (PRO 3) director, extended his condolences to the families of two people who died when a truck plowed into a group of Social Amelioration Program (SAP) beneficiaries in the City of San Jose Del Monte on Tuesday, May 11.

Following the accident, De Leon advised people not to drive if they think they are stressed or unwell to avoid a repeat of such tragedy.

Initial investigation showed that a city government-owned dump truck manned by Herminio Gerona crashed into a tent near the City Hall of San Jose del Monte as he suffered a heart attack while driving around 7:40 a.m.

Several cash beneficiaries who were waiting in line beside the City Treasury Office were injured.

The driver and the victims were rushed to the Ospital ng Lungsod ng San Jose Del Monte where Gerona was declared dead on arrival.

One of the victims, Analyn Somooc, 54, died while undergoing treatment.

Authorities identified the other injured victims as Ronilo Navarro Jr., Mario Dela Rosa, Mary Rose Eustaquio, and Cecilia Beramo.
