Pasay City LGU: 120 barangays now COVID-free

The Pasay City local government unit (LGU) has declared 120 barangays in the city as COVID-19-free after recording zero case on Sunday, May 9.

Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano said the city has a total of 201 barangays and only Barangay 183 remains with 18 COVID-19.

Rubiano had earlier placed under localized community lockdown barangays with two or more cases of COVID-19 at the height of the surge in cases in the city in March.

She said the city government’s best tool in bringing down COVID-19 cases in the city was the strict implementation of prevent-detect-isolate-treat and reintegrate (PDITR).

The mayor also said that before President Duterte ordered the local government units to apprehend violators of the standard health protocols, the city government had already ordered the local police to strictly implement the city ordinance against violators.

Rubiano said city residents are more cautious and have been urged to observe the health protocols being implemented by the city government.

Records showed that as of May 9, a total of 67 individuals were apprehended for various health protocols violations -- two for social distancing, 10 for not wearing face masks, and 29 for violation of curfew hours.
