Andanar made the statement as the world celebrated Mother's Day on Sunday, May 9.

In a statement, Andanar turned the spotlight on mothers leading the battle against the said respiratory disease.

"On this special day dedicated to them, we value the contribution of all mothers, especially those working in the frontlines, to nation-building and our fight against COVID-19," he said.

"Today is a special occasion to express our endless gratitude, utmost admiration, appreciation, and respect for these exceptional women," he added.

According to Andanar, the unmatched sacrifices of all mothers for their children, whether they may be mothers by birth, adoption, or foster care, are something that can never be repaid.

"It is through our mothers’ unwavering love, support, and guidance that we first experience happiness, comfort, and the wonders of life," he said.

"Let us celebrate our mothers and make sure they feel our unending love and gratitude for the gift of life and for the deep affection and care, this day and every day," he added.

The Palace official, meanwhile, honored also the mothers who have already passed.

"During this opportune time, may we also remember those mothers who are no longer with us. Their lasting presence and spirit continue to live on within the generations they helped shape and form," he said.
