No plans to lift liquor ban in Parañaque yet

Parañaque City residents still can’t buy their favorite alcoholic beverages during this dry season.

In a text message sent to Manila Bulletin, City Administrator Ding Soriano confirmed that the city has no plans yet to lift the liquor ban imposed in the city since March.

Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez signed an Executive Order (EO) suspending the licenses/permits to sell and/or to serve liquor and other intoxicating and alcoholic beverages effective March 15 until March 31. Since then, the ban has not yet been lifted.

The cities of Quezon, San Juan, Pateros, Mandaluyong and Muntinlupa have already lifted their liquor ban. They allowed again the selling of alcoholic beverages this week. Other cities have lifted theirs since April.

Other than Parañaque, the cities of Malabon, Navotas and Valenzuela have not yet lifted the liquor ban in their areas.

The prohibitions were put in place in March following the surge of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases.
