Korean actor Kim Seon-ho, one of the stars of the drama “Start-Up,” turned 35 on May 8 and to celebrate the milestone, his fans in Korea and overseas made donations, sponsored a theater seat and ran an ad.

His Korean fans sponsored a seat at the Indie Space independent film house located in Jongno, Seoul.

Under this, the fans paid 2 million won ($1,797) to have Kim Seon-ho’s name engraved on a nameplate on seat No. H4 in the Indie Space theater. The nameplate reads “Actor Kim Seon-ho.”

According to Indie Space, it expects that Kim Seon-ho’s activities and fans’ voluntary support will have a positive influence on the Korean film industry, which became stagnant due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

Indie Space is the first private independent film theater in Korea, which opened in 2007 and screens Korean independent films through special exhibitions and screenings.

On the other hand, US fanbase Seonhohada USA and international fan support Kim Seonho Union made donations to The Beautiful Foundation, a charity organization based in Seoul, to celebrate the actor’s birthday.

Seonhohada USA donated 2.2 million won ($1,977) and Kim Seonho Union gave 2.4 million won ($2,157) to the foundation for the benefit of the youth.

“This donation goes toward youths leaving out-of-home care, who have successfully entered universities so that they can receive stable education and opportunity to become self-sufficient through employment,” according to a Twitter post by Kim Seonho Union.

The donations were inspired by Kim Seon-ho’s role as Han Ji-pyeong in “Start-Up,” which aired from October to December last year.

In addition, My Kim Seon Ho Thailand fanbase ran a video ad under their Thai Seonhohada Project on the COEX Crown Media in front of the COEX mall in Gangnam, Seoul. One website stated that the daily advertising fee to run a COEX ad starts at 1.7 million won ($1,528).

Kim Seon-ho’s popularity rose after starring in “Start-Up.” His next drama is “Seaside Village Cha Cha Cha” with Shin Min-a. He released the song “Reason” on May 6, a collaboration with Epitone Project.
