4-magnitude quake hits Mulanay, Quezon


A magnitude 4 earthquake hit Mulanay, Quezon on Saturday afternoon, May 8, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

Phivolcs said the temblor took place at about 21 kilometers (km) southwest of Mulanay, Quezon at 1:03 p.m.

The quake had a depth of focus of 1 km and was tectonic in origin.

Phivolcs said Intensity IV or “moderately strong” shaking was felt in Mulanay, Quezon.

Intensity III or “weak” shaking was monitored in Catanauan, Quezon and Torrijos, Marinduque.

The agency also measured an Instrumental Intensity IV in Mulanay, Quezon.

State seismologists said they were not expecting damage to property. They said no aftershocks were expected to occur following the quake.
