PH COVID-19 recovery tally crosses 1 million


More than one million individuals in the Philippines have already recovered from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the Department of Health (DOH) said on Friday, May 7.

The DOH reported 4,227 new COVID-19 survivors, raising the tally of recoveries to 1,003,160---which accounts to 92.2 percent of the country's overall number of cases.

The DOH also reported 7,733 additional cases nationwide. This brought the total number of active cases to 66,626.

Majority of the active cases or 94.4 percent have mild symptoms, two percent were asymptomatic, 1.1 percent were in critical condition, 1.5 percent have severe symptoms, while 0.98 percent were in moderate condition.

The death count also increased to 18,099 after the DOH recorded 108 new fatalities.

A total of 1,087,885 COVID-19 cases were already recorded in the country since the outbreak began last year.

Currently, 63 percent of the intensive care units (ICU) beds allocated for COVID-19 patients are in use while 44 percent of the isolation beds are occupied.
