During the rollout of the Sputnik V vaccine in Taguig on May 5, Mayor Lino Cayetano said the city will be vaccinating residents in the NCR Plus, saying, “because until everyone is safe, no one is safe.”

Taguig is one of the five pilot areas of the Sputnik V vaccine which arrived in the country on May 1.

The mayor said they are currently vaccinating 4,000 residents per day and by June, he expects to vaccinate 5,600 people per day.

Cayetano said when the vaccine supply becomes more stable by September, the city will open 10 more vaccination hubs or four mega vaccination centers. This will help in targeting about 10,000 persons for vaccination per day as the city aims to finish its vaccination by November.

National Task Force (NTF) against COVID-19 chief implementer and vaccine czar Sec. Carlito Galvez Jr. commended the Taguig City government for its vaccination campaign that will help the national government’s goal of inoculating at least 120,000 persons per day in the NCR and 500,000 persons per day nationwide.

Taguig 2nd District Rep. Lani Cayetano said, “Taguig is always committed and always ready to help para magtagumpay ang lungsod. Dahil ang tagumpay ng lungsod ay kontribusyon namin sa tagumpay ng buong bansa lalung-lalo na pagdating sa vaccination program.”

The Sputnik V vaccines will be used for priority groups A1 (healthcare workers), A2 (senior citizens), and A3 (persons with comorbidities). As of May 2, the city government has vaccinated 36,196 residents.
